SPECIAL OPERATIONS REPORT: INSTANT FOB

The current situation down rage has become realistically clear; forward deployed troops need hardened shelters to protect them from snipers, IEDs, mortars and RPGs. Jim Brennan of Sea Box, Inc., along with a development team assembled by First Lt. Mike Sparks (USAR), combined their container and LIC expertise to come up with the Battlebox, a highly dployable, multi functional combat center.

The Battlebox is an insulated, 20' x 8' x 8' ISO container configured to easily house six soldiers on fold-down bunks. The unit has a work station, a recessed A/C unit, full fluorescent lighting and power outlets for conventional line, generator, battery or solar power. Battleboxes can be stacked and shipped full of personal gear, as well as SOA modular plastic Blast Walls, wich can be quickly assmbled as a defensive perimiter using dirt-fill or water.

The units have double container doors, a "troop" door, integral locking gun racks, circuit breaker box, fire extinguisher and bunk ladders, and can be Kevlar armored and ordered in any camouflage scheme. Battlebox units are currently in use by US Special Forces, but can be modified to support medical teams or used as law enforcement TOCs.
